When I first saw Suffuse’s Freesia Eid collection 2019 I was ecstatic. That finally the designers are making a somewhat affordable collection to cater to the masses. I had some money saved and set aside “Kyun k saal men ek acha jora to banta hai”. And considering their price range—unstitched upto Rs: 20,000 and stitched upto Rs: 25,000— I thought I can manage it.
At first, I couldn’t get my hands on their dresses because they got sold out so fast. But after some days they said they are restocking and I thought finally this is my chance to shine on this Eid. Somehow I managed to buy the dress I wanted online. The first shocker came when they charged me shipping fee. How could they charge a shipping fee on an already expensive dress? Remember when we buy from Sapphire or Khaadi they waive their shipping fee after a certain amount and that amount is as less as 1500 RS!
And the second shocker came when the next day my bank charged me an additional 2500 RS as a foreign exchange tax.
Can somebody explain it to me that why businesses working from Pakistan are operating their websites in dollars? And why there is no option to change the currency into PKR as the website is of a Pakistani brand? Most of the websites I know of have the option of converting money into pounds or dollars or rupees considering their different clientele. But Suffuse is working in dollars and not in PKR? These businesses then should not be allowed to work from Pakistan if they don’t cater to the needs of their Pakistani clients and mind you! This includes the majority of their clients!!
In sum, I got my dress— Norah stitched—that was initially priced in 24,500 in almost 2700 Rs!! Beware, people!! These are the hidden charges!
Regardless, I waited for my dress although my spirits have been dampened by all this. I called them near Eid to ask that when will they deliver my dress they said they will deliver the restocked items after 20th June and Eid was on 5th June!! I said why didn’t you already mentioned this on Instagram and they replied it was mentioned on the website. Another tragedy had befallen me!! What is the point of an Eid collection if you are not supposed to wear it on Eid? This was truly a sad state of affairs!
At this moment I was furious and angry but managed to remain patient. And after this hassle, my dress arrived in the first week of July. Forgetting everything I looked forward to opening the box and when I did, there was something off about the dress. It was not that beautiful as pictured on Instagram. But why was it looking like a replica of the original dress? Yes! That was off about the dress! It was original but looked like a cheap copy instead!! Yes, I know real dress always tend to differ from the pictures but I wasn’t expecting a designer dress to be that below expectations!
The fabric of the trousers was very low quality and the dupatta looked like bought from a Pathan at a local market. The fabric of the Koti was also substandard.
The stitching of freesia by Suffuse collection dress was pathetic! The armhole of the dress was wide and that of Koti was small so the end result can be seen in the pictures below!!
Many beads and stones have fallen from the dress and the embellishments were so loosely sewn in that my mother had to sew sequins securely on the dress again!
In the end, my mother asked me, Was it worth 27 thousand and this much hassle? I replied No! These designers charge for their impeccable designs, stitching, and services! But if these are not up to the mark then what is the point of charging too much? These designers are just a fraud, people with hard-earned money can’t throw their money away like this! Dear fellows think before buying from these branded thugs!!
Suffuse by Sana Yasir was a big disappointment!
